Brandi M. Dorsey
LPC, Ed.S., M.Ed.
National Certified Counselor
I have been practicing for nearly ten years. In that time, I have enjoyed helping people who are struggling with all of life's circumstances. This includes anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other mood disorders, grief, relationship issues, parenting, and autism.
I find that people usually know what is not working in their life and have worked hard to try and figure out how to fix it. It can be very hard to figure out on your own why things are not working. My goal is to provide clarity to your life and help you make sense of these things. This is done through a process which is unique for each person – no two people are the same and your experience in counseling will be a good fit for you.
I utilize several approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy and person-centered therapy- for children, play therapy techniques. I will also consider your issues in light of your environment and other factors. This is important for lasting change because we will get to the reasons for issues you bring instead of simply working to change behavior. Sometimes, healing can make a behavior change come naturally.
I graduated from Augusta University with a B.A. in psychology in 2009. I then received both an M.Ed. and Ed.S. degree in clinical mental health from Clemson University in 2015- all with high honors. I am published in the International Journal of Play Therapy (2018). My education and practice model is as a scholar-practitioner. My approach is informed by peer-reviewed research.
Whether this is the first time you are reaching out for counseling or you are still looking for the right fit, I encourage you to call. I look forward to walking alongside you. I will work to equip and empower you to move forward with confidence.
